Pre Treatment

• You cannot have IPL Laser Treatment if you have a tan (including self-tanning) or been on a sunbed in the last 3 to 4 weeks.
• Avoid alcohol the night before and day of treatment.
• If the area bring treated is on the body, wear loose fitting clothes if possible on the day of treatment.
• Drink at least 1 litre of water the day before and on the day of treatment (this helps to regulate the body’s temperature).
• Do not exercise before or after the treatment (to keep the body cool).
• Arrive 5-10 minutes early so that you are relaxed prior to the treatment.
• Do not expose the skin to U.V (sun exposure or the use of tanning bed) or self tan for at least 4 weeks before and/or between IPL treatments.
• (If hair) Do not epilate with waxing, plucking or threading (shaving or depilatory creams are acceptable) before and/or between IPL treatments.
• Do not use bleaching creams, or perfumed products (e.g aromatherapy oils) for 24-48 hrs before treatment sessions.
• Avoid swimming in strong chlorinated water immediately before an IPL session.
• Avoid exfoliating, microdermabraison or peels 1 week before treatment sessions.
• Keep the area clean and dry.

Post Treatment

• Please note that the treated area does not necessarily come out on the day of treatment. Skin should be treated gently for 4-5 days after treatment, avoid excessive rubbing or any trauma to the area to allow the skin to recover and to prevent infection.
• Sunscreen should be used on exposed areas after treatment (even if it is not a sunny day). Also avoid sun beds and self tanning lotions for the treatment period.
• If skin appears blistered or broken, apply some Aloe Vera gel, if severe call the Clinic Helpline (below) immediately. The effect should only be temporary.
• Ice pack can be used if skin is not broken and no reaction is evident. Avoid makeup if area is sensitised.
• Avoid heat treatments i.e. Sauna, steam etc., and also avoid exercise (as this heats up the body) for 4-5 days after treatment
